Kris Barclay, Roster (Soo Thunderbirds)

Acquired near the 2011-12 trade deadline, Barclay was brought to Sault Ste. Marie to bolster the Thunderbirds lineup, particularly come playoff time. The veteran defenceman was picked up from the Pickering Panthers, of the Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Hailing from Ajax, Ont., and playing hockey in the Greater Toronto Area, Barclay jumped at the chance to skate in the Sault, a smaller market where people take Junior hockey very seriously. In the future, he’d like to continue playing the sport at the NCAA level in the U.S. or at a Canadian university.
