Team Personnel, Roster (Soo Thunderbirds)

As Assistant Coach, Jamie Henderson joins the Soo Thunderbirds behind the bench of the defending Western Division and NOJHL Regular Season Champions. Born and raised in Sault Ste Marie, Jamie comes to the Thunderbirds after helping the St Mary's Knights for two years including one of the most successful High School hockey seasons in the history of Ontario High School athletics which saw the Knights claim City, Playoff, Northern Ontario and All Ontario titles. Jamie was a coach at the Soo Greyhound Development camp this past spring and will also be attending the main camp of the OHL club. Jamie has been an instructor at former Soo Greyhound Mike Oliverio's hockey school the past 4 years. Jamie will bring his passion for the game of hockey and a strong work ethic to the Thunderbirds.

As an Assistant Coach, this will be Warren's 15th year coaching hockey.  He has had the opportunity to coach the last three seasons at the Jr "A" level; two seasons in Blind River and one season with the Sault Indians of the NOJHL.   Warren has also had the opportunity to be an evaluator for 3 seasons with Hockey Canada's Under 17  Development Camps in the North,  Nike Skills Development Camp and worked for World Class Hockey conducting hockey schools throughout the USA.   For the past 5 seasons he has conducted the power skating and skills development for the Sault, MI minor hockey spring league. 

As Head Coach, Preston is in his third year of retirement as a player after a ten year professional career with stops in the AHL, ECHL and most recently in Europe.

Preston had a successful four year OHL career with the Peterborough Petes, Soo Greyhounds, Plymouth Whalers and the Sarnia Sting.

Preston brings a solid hockey backround, professionalism and a personality condusive to lead the Thunderbirds in the NOJHL.

Goaltending Coach, Dominic Sorrenti has returned to Junior A hockey one year after spending 4 years as goalie coach of the Blind River Beavers. Dom is currently in his second year as the goaltending coach of the Sault North Stars in the Great North Midget League. Dom’s resume also includes 2 years experience as goaltender evaluator for the Northern Ontario Under 17 Hockey Program.  He is a life long resident of Sault Ste Marie and works as Kinesiologist for the GROUP HEALTH CENTRE’s Chronic Disease Management Programs.
